The Beauty of Japan & the Suntory Alcohol Experience

From April 9-13 I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Japan to photograph for alcohol brand Suntory on their " The House of Suntory - The Nature and Spirit of Japan" media trip. The journey included experiences in Osaka, Kyoto, Yamazaki, Tokyo and the Southern Japanese Alps. I accompanied journalist James Atkinson to capture the stories of this journey to assist him in his articles as well as imagery for Suntory.

From Landscapes to street scenes, macro images to global travel photography, these are the photographs that we put our heart & soul into, & until now, have not been available to the public. Now you can share our passion & our love of photography as stunning gallery style artwork, printed & constructed in Australia, on acrylic glass, canvas, framed fine art prints, posters or wood prints.

Putting the right face forward.... the commercial portrait

The first impression most of your customers/clients/associates or possible future employers will get of you is in the form of a commercial portrait.... a photograph of you. 

It is so important to get this right.... not just a picture chosen at random or one where you think you look gorgeous, but one that truly reflects your brand, its identity, your ethics, your position and authority or your openess and approachability etc.

The commercial portrait is a mainstay of our business. Whether our clients want highly personalised, on location images or more clinically clean studio style images. 

To make things simple we tend to shoot at our clients offices allowing us to take a large number of client images with as little disruption to their working day. This can mean that you never really know your shooting space until you get there and sometimes that can mean adapting and carrying enough kit to enable you to get the results you need under almost any conditions.

We love Customising for our Clients: Styled Real Estate Photography

Real Estate photography has a certain look.... but not for one of our clients.

We are preferred photography supplier for Von Barnes, Owner of Pinnacle Properties in Brisbane. Von is a style queen and one of her key services for clients is to help style their house for the perfect buyer selling lifestyle as well as bricks and mortar. As a result Von needs us to pull on our experiences and architectural and interior photographers as well as our lifestyle magazine work to create images that have as much to do as showing emotions as showing room sizes.... but we'll let Von explain in the video below :)

A Pop up commercial Portraiture studio? Now there's something to offer your event attendees

One of the great things about being set up as a location photographer is we can create a virtual studio space almost anywhere.

Something we have been doing a lot lately for our clients is setting up a pop up studio at their events. This means that clients (particularly in the financial services sector) who often host industry briefings etc for their corporate clients can now offer an added bonus for those who attend - not just a goody bag, but a professional corporate headshot for the website/LinkedIn page/marketing material etc.

Here is a behind the scenes look at an AEA Networking event where we provided photographic coverage of the event and staged more than 30 corporate headshot sessions in our pop up studio.

Training micro businesses in DIY Product Photography - Clermont Small Business Week

We are back in Clermont, this time as guests of Isaac Region Council hosting a training workshop for micro businesses and local photographers in DIY product photography.

Obviously there are times when only a professional and experienced product photographer will do.... and we should know as it is one area from which we earn our living.

But lets be honest, many small and micro businesses simply can't afford the costs of constantly hiring product photographers, but still need great images of their products online for sale.

This was the scenario that Isaac Council approached us with, so we designed the ultimate DIY course for such business, teaching them simple techniques to build their own micro product studio and the skills and knowledge to take, edit and market their images all from their smart devices. It was a lot of fun with some great and creative people attending, see our behind the scenes video below. 

Come behind the scenes on our Clermont product photography workshop, teaching people who aren't necessarily photographers to use their phone and other props around the home to professionally light their subjects/products, photograph them and edit them all using your phone.
