Canon 50 years video submission with the LP Team!

Canon 50 years video submission with the LP Team!

At Life Portraits, we're passionate about capturing life's precious moments.

So, when we saw Canon's 50th-anniversary contest, we couldn't resist putting our creativity to the test! Seeing the opportunity for a fun out-of-office day for the team, LP spent the day creating a short film to enter into the competition!

We had a great time getting creative around Brisbane, putting together a story about the humble $50 Australian bill.

From being a gift to getting lost and found, it's a rollercoaster ride of everyday life. As the bill circles back to digital transactions, it mirrors the evolution of tech, just like our trusty Canon cameras seen throughout the video. Life moves fast, and so does the way we capture it!

Creativity In Gear:

We dedicated a team "out-of-office" day to film a unique video celebrating five decades of Canon cameras. We brainstormed a concept that weaved a story through the lens of a single $50 bill.

Connecting with Canon's Legacy:

By showcasing the $50 bill's journey, we connect it to the evolution of how we capture memories. From film cameras to the digital marvels of today, Canon has been a constant companion in this amazing technological shift.

Life moves at a rapid pace, and the way we capture it keeps evolving. Our video serves as a reminder to cherish the power of storytelling, no matter the format. Just like reliable Canon cameras have adapted over the years, so too can we embrace new ways to document life's precious moments.

Seamless Storytelling: The results of a Unified Photography & Videography Team

Castalia Group Strathpine aged care and representing what they do best

"Working with Andy and Mel from LP Photography was a great experience. They were flexible, fun to work with, professional, helpful, and they delivered quality photography and videography for our brand."

- Maddy Hopkins - Castalia Group

In today's multimedia world, businesses are increasingly turning to a combination of photography and videography to tell their stories. With a cohesive team working on both, the resulting imagery can showcase a new product, service, or promote a brand with lasting effectiveness.

LP Commercial’s work with aged care providers Castalia is a perfect example of this, with LP working to provide both the stills and the video for their website update.

How it worked

From the very first stages of our work with Castalia, LP were able to plan for a shoot that would involve both photography and videography shot simultaneously, saving the client time and causing minimum inconvenience and disruption to their care centre staff and residents.

We were therefore able to spend time where it mattered, in capturing the warmth and care provided by the staff and in showcasing the facility's amenities and activities. Spending time with the residents was also key to providing website imagery that would appeal to Castalia’s clients.

Video especially was vital here, offering a glimpse into the everyday lives within the facility.

Investing in a unified team for your video and photography needs doesn't just save time and money, it ensures a more effective and impactful storytelling experience for your brand.

Building Trust with Video: LP Commercial's Success with Wheelhouse Partners Q&A's

Video is fast becoming the go-to in the modern business landscape, where much of communication and interaction happens online, increasingly through visual mediums.

As businesses grow and expand, in-person interactions with every prospective client becomes impractical. Offering video content on social media, your website, and other marketing materials provides an unparalleled way to put a face to your brand and a voice to the sometimes complex information you need to convey about how your business operates and what it can do for customers.

The diverse uses of video make it suitable for businesses at all levels and stages, from startups to established companies looking to adapt to industry changes. While explainer or FAQ videos can simplify your offerings, a recorded interview can offer insights into your business and build trust in the people behind it and save your staff and clients time in organising and attending meetings for basic information delivery.

This latter point is particularly important for businesses operating in corporate settings like finance, law, and medicine. Video can showcase your knowledge and professional demeanor, setting you apart in an often impersonal and highly competitive field.

Take LP client Wheelhouse Partners, for example. Over several sessions with us, they've utilised a range of video styles, from direct camera addresses to interviews and explainer reels. They serve as a wonderful showcase for the effectiveness and versatility of video mediums.

“We have found LP Commercial to be excellent communication partner, we find them responsive, professional and have supported Wheelhouse’ communication strategy very nicely.”

-Wayne, Wheelhouse Partners.

By using video's simple and intimate style, Wheelhouse Partners transform complex financial concepts into something easy to understand and follow and keep their clients and potential clients up to date with their offerings.

While our work with Wheelhouse Partners showcases a corporate application of video, the principles extend across all industries and business types, and can be further refined to cultivate relationships with both your current and prospective clients.

Video content can be tailored to suit your unique brand voice and communication objectives, from small startups to multinational corporations. Aim for a lighthearted and sociable tone, like a family-run bakery introducing its newest product, or take a more informative and direct approach suitable to more corporate entities.

At LP Commercial Photography we specialise in crafting video content tailored to your brand and goals. We'll help you capture exactly what you need, how and when you need it.

Leveraging Videography to Elevate Your Brand Presence

Leveraging Videography to Elevate Your Brand Presence

At LP, we bring your brand to life and to your customers through video storytelling. In today's business landscape, engagement is more important than ever, and many brands are finding that visual content is the the most effective medium for lasting impressions.

A well-made video, reel, or introduction can benefit your business by:

  • resonating with your potential clients

  • improving watch time and engagement on social platforms

  • creating brand familiarity

  • putting across your values and offers in a way that will stick with the viewers

  • getting a message out

  • conveying a complex idea

Tailored expertly to your business, there’s not much a video can’t do to benefit reach and sales.

A look into the process, pre production, filming, and post-production

Quoting on a project, large or small, involves a lot of moving parts. While many may only think of the filming section of the project, and that is of course vital to the outcome, there is a lot the videographer does before and after the shoot that needs to be considered.

Pre-Production

When envisioning the perfect video for your business, the pre-planning phase is the meticulous foundational for your video.

Pre-production can include any mix of the following:

  • securing any required filming/drone flying permissions/permits, if drones is applicable

  • script writing

  • client briefs

  • storyboards

  • filming schedules

  • location hire

  • talent hire

  • catering if necessary

A good pre-production phase can save you money on unforeseen costs and mistakes made without that proper planning.

Post-Production

Post-production is the transformative stage where each captured sequence finds its place. mIt's here that your brand's story takes shape.

Depending on the nature of your video and its final goals- all discussed and decided during thte pre-production phase, in the post-production phase you can expect:

  • synced music of your choice

  • voiceovers added

  • colour toning and grading-often tweaked to evoke the desired emotions

  • captioning for clarity and accessibility

This phase tailors your message to resonate with your audience, and ensures a polished and impactful final product.

A transparent Quote Process with LP

Once a full brief is agreed upon, we provide an accurate quote that outlines all stages of production, with costs split and listed, and any potential extra’s clearly defined.

At a minimum, even the most seemingly "simplistic" video will entail a half-day of post-production work. We believe in transparency throughout the quoting process, ensuring you have a clear understanding of how each phase contributes to the overall success of your video project.

Elevate Your Brand with Seamless Product Photography and Video Production: The Cobra Engineering and LP Commercial Photography Partnership

In today's competitive marketplace, showcasing your products effectively is paramount to success. It's not just about the quality of the product itself; it's also about how you present it to your audience. That's where Cobra Industrial Design’s choice to use us for the launch of their new website and range of custom ute trays helped the products shine.

The Brief

We were commissioned by Cobra to create a full set of images of their new range of ute products for their website and online store plus a number of videos for both website and social media of the products in action. Because of the range of expertise within the LP team, this was something we could do easily in-house making the process of briefing and execution much easier for the client.

Streamlining the Process

Imagine a scenario where Cobra, needed to brief separate agencies for product photography and video production. The back-and-forth communication, aligning schedules, and ensuring a consistent brand message could be a daunting and time consuming task. By working with LP however, this process is simplified to one point of contact, saving them time and headaches and reducing the chance of miscommunication and confusion.

A Holistic Understanding of your product

Another key advantages of having a single team handle both product photography and video production is the depth of understanding they develop about your product and brand. When the same professionals work on both aspects, they gain insights into how best to shoot and display the unique characteristics, design intricacies, and craftsmanship of these specialized products. This deeper understanding translates into more compelling visuals that resonate with the client and their target audience.

Consistency is Key

Consistency in branding is vital for building trust and recognition in the minds of customers. When different teams handle photography and video production separately, maintaining consistency can be challenging. LP’s on stop integrated approach ensures that visual content is cohesive across all platforms which in turn fosters a sense of reliability among the client’s customers.

Meeting the Needs of the Unsure Customer

For businesses looking to invest in product photography and video production but unsure where to start, the Cobra Engineering and LP Commercial Photography partnership provides a clear path forward. At LP, we understand that navigating the world of visual content creation can be overwhelming. Our friendly and professional team is ready to guide our clients through the process. Whether you're launching a new product or revamping your brand's image, we have the expertise to bring your vision to life in partnership with you.

Elevating Workouts with Kyng Protein Shakers: Behind the Scenes of Our Exciting Video Shoot!

We recently embarked on an exciting project with Kyng, the creators of innovative protein shakers, to capture their product's magic in action. Our mission was clear: showcase how Kyng's shakers can level up your gym sessions.

In pre-production, we meticulously scouted the perfect model and gym location to convey authenticity, aiming to bridge the gap between Kyng's shakers and the fitness community. With our model matching the brand's energy and the gym providing the ideal setting for our shoot, we went on to handle both filming and editing. The result? A dynamic video that seamlessly integrated Kyng's shakers into the workout routine, highlighting their practicality and design. It conveyed the message that Kyng's protein shakers are not just a gym accessory but a companion for achieving fitness goals.

If you're in search of a videographer to bring your product to life, LP Commercial is here for you. Our commitment to understanding your brand and crafting compelling videos ensures your message resonates with your audience. Documenting Building Craftsmanship: A Deck Construction Journey through Videography

Documenting building CraftsmanshiP: A Deck Construction Journey through videography

We had the fantastic opportunity to step into the world of decking by highlighting our client, Stilus on an exciting project. We captured them building the display deck for Trex’s Brisbane location. Over the course of a week, we made 3 visits to the site, capturing the entire process of building a display deck from start to finish.

Over the course of the week, we were on-site, camera in hand, capturing the art of crafting a beautiful deck. From initial planning sessions to the final, awe-inspiring result, we were there to document it all. Our goal was to highlight the dedication, skill, and hard work that goes into bringing a decking project to life.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was providing the client with not only the final edited video but also the raw footage. This comprehensive package empowers the decking company with a versatile resource for future use. Whether it's for marketing, training, or simply showcasing their craftsmanship, they now have a visual asset that can be leveraged in countless ways.

Celebrating Excellence: The T-Shirt Printing Process Unveiled

We had the privilege of working with The Shirt Shed, an Australian-based t-shirt printing company renowned for their commitment to quality and meticulous attention to detail. Our journey was guided by a singular purpose: create a compelling video that not only showcased their t-shirt printing process but also exemplified the craftsmanship that defines their brand.

The journey began with a deep dive into The Shirt Shed's operations, where we learned that understanding a business from the inside out is crucial for crafting an impactful video. Working closely with their team during the pre-production phase, we meticulously planned each shot to ensure that every step of their intricate process was captured on film.

Our cameras were there to witness the journey from the initial logo cutting to the careful selection of ink colours and the precise printing process. We utilized top-notch equipment and a skilled crew to ensure every vibrant colour and intricate detail was captured flawlessly. TAB Brisbane & Gold Coast Events: Commercial Photography & Videography Case Study

CAPTURING TAB’S Events WITH PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY

Building the Future for Remote Communities: Brisbane Time Lapse, Drone & Videography

BUILDING THE FUTURE FOR REMOTE COMMUNITIES

Brisbane Time Lapse, Drone & Videography

I love where our job takes us…. Travelling around Australia and beyond photographing and filming for our clients in such a wide variety of locations, capturing brand stories and getting to know some incredible people along the way.

We were recently commissioned by Fulton Hogan, an expert in airport pavement design, construction and maintenance, to film the Weipa Airport Resurfacing Project which was 100% self-performed by Fulton Hogan.

Located in far North of Queensland on the Cape York Peninsula, Fulton Hogan were engaged to resurface Weipa airport runway as well as build a new aircraft apron. The installation of aeronautical ground lighting was also included.  We were commissioned to capture the project through a range of mediums such as time lapse, drone, videography and stills to produce the end piece: a documentative video of the project.

This remote settlement is 2,500kms from Brisbane and 827km’s from Cairns. Its location makes it a major logistical challenge to get equipment and manpower on site even before you start considering the technical difficulties of the job.

However, for Fulton Hogan’s specialist airport team, it was simply a matter of taking everything in their stride and making sure they trucked in all they would need, including their massive transportable asphalt plant.

For the uninitiated it is akin to a giant multi-vehicle transformer, that arrives as a series of large articulated truck trailers and turns into an asphalt plant capable of producing 300 tonnes of black top an hour with its own portable laboratory where technicians and scientists continually check samples to ensure the plant maintains the highest possible quality product for resurfacing the runway.

For LP Commercial Photography, it meant flying me, seven camera bodies, time-lapse slider and controller and an assortment of lenses, gimbal, tripods, microphones and everything in the kitchen sink off to Weipa to live on a local mining camp for a week. A one-man mission to capture as many of the FH team’s different techniques and processes as possible to create a short documentary film on the project both as a record of the work and also for use for future marketing endeavours.

The brief was to supply a range of stills and video from the project and also capture the surrounding community.

Far North Queensland was a new experience, on the challenging side was the heat and wind that blew constant clouds of dust from the surrounding landscape across the airport. I still have a camera where the grip is slightly tinted red from the dust that I just can’t get out of the little grooves in the rubber.

But on the plus side was the incredible FH team on the job and the local people, all of whom were great to work with, friendly, inviting and always interested in what was going on.

One of my favourite moments was creating the last time lapse section of video, with the sunsetting over the sea.

The sequence took about 3 hours to film and while I was sitting there manning the cameras I watched a father teaching his two young sons - who probably weren’t yet into double digits - how to fish with a spear. Then as the sky started to darken they left leaving me alone at the spot.

Then a few minutes later a ute came racing over to me…. not sure what to expect, a man jumped out breathless dangling a massive fish…. “I saw you over here with your cameras…. I just caught this and nobody is going to believe me…. Please can you take a photo and send it to me!!!”

He then left and I was alone again as dusk turned to the dark blue of twilight and it began to get seriously dark. As I waited for the time-lapse sequence to finish I glanced over at the “Warning Crocodiles” signs and thought. “You know what, I wonder if crocs are active at night now I’m alone here...” OK, I’ll admit it was not the best time to check that type of information…. particularly when wikipedia on my phone told me they were most active hunters at night…. you have never seen a set of cameras packed away as quickly as I did that night while all the time scanning a torch over the ocean to see if there was a glint of eye reflection on the water line!!!

When I worked as a photojournalist my cameras took me on so many different adventures, experiences and locations. Thirty-three years later and working in commercial photography it’s great to know that they still do. Weipa Airport what can I say, a great shoot, great people and a beautiful location. Thanks for having us.

Andy

Roma Airport Runway Resurfacing Project - Fulton Hogan: Time Lapse Video Project

ROMA AIRPORT RUNWAY RESURFACING PROJECT - Fulton Hogan: Time Lapse Video Project

Some jobs are just special right from the word go.  From the first conversation with the client you know it’s going to be epic.

Like when a client calls and says: “….so, this runway in a rural Queensland town is getting resurfaced over 30 days or so but all the work has to be done at night and every morning each night’s work has to seamlessly blend with the existing runway so that the airport can re-open and the runway can operate as per normal each day.

So every night we have to scrape off the top layer of a section, flatten it, seal all the cracks, resurface it, roll it smooth, re paint all line markings and then clear the area of all equipment and debris so the first plane of the day can land. Now we need a film that can capture every stage of the process, filmed at night and feature airport operations during the day and be around the 2 minute mark. What do you think….”

What do I think? I think that sounds epic.

WELCOME TO THE ROMA AIRPORT RESURFACING PROJECT

Client: Cross Copywriting representing both Fulton Hogan and Maranoa Regional Council

Brief: Create an approx. 2 min film showing all aspects of the resurfacing work and the importance of the airport to the regional community.

End use: General marketing material and historical record.

Required:  Two trips out to the rural hub of Roma, three-night shifts and two-day shifts (the longest being 18 hours straight), two staff, nine separate cameras including three go pros, 280gb of B-roll footage and 21,000 still frames for time-lapse segments.

Every job presents particular challenges to overcome. The Roma project was particularly interesting. Not only were there the “normal” safety issues of working around some seriously large plant and equipment in constant motion but also the added risks of working around them at night and the technical difficulties of filming and photographing fast moving objects in low light.

During the day our set pieces were relaxed as were shown round the airport by airport manager Ben Stewart and his friendly team. Taking time to work out angles and stage our shots.

The night time job was a completely different story. The Fulton Hogan team were working to incredibly tight deadlines and it was made very politely and equally firmly clear from the start that nothing could be done to interrupt or hold up any work as everyone had a great big clock in their heads counting down the time to the first aircraft coming in to land in the morning…. An operational deadline that could not be held up for anyone.

The answer? Bring loads of cameras and set them up running all round the works area so that at any one time we are filming two or three b-roll pieces, having Go-pros rigged on vehicles capturing driver-eye views of the evening while another three cameras work on static and slider based time-lapse pieces… then throughout the night we run around breaking down and resetting everything for the next set of shots.

For us it was a non-stop, slightly manic job with little down time as the Fulton Hogan team professionally, systematically and efficiently smashed through their work.

But despite all the cameras and gear we had with us, our greatest asset for the job was simply the people we were working with. Namely Philippa Cross of Cross Copywriting whose agency was the central point of contact for managing and matching our work to the desires and needs of the two end clients, Fulton Hogan and Maranoa Regional Council, and of course the attitude of the men and women of the Fulton Hogan and Roma Airport teams.

Yes they were extremely busy and under a great deal of pressure but every one of them was also as helpful as they could be. Ready to assist whenever we needed it and incredibly welcoming to the point that even though we were the interlopers dropping in and buzzing around like annoying mosquitos at a barbeque they instantly made us feel like an integral part of their team. Making a hectic job that much easier.

This job was amazing and memorable in so many ways. Being Brisbane based commercial photographers it’s good to get out and about in regional Queensland. Watching the way the FH team worked liked a well-oiled machine. The incredible logistical challenges of the job for everyone involved and the resulting piece of film that we achieved.

But for me the greatest memories that I take away from this job are the working relationships forged over the project and the wonderfully warm, cohesive team spirit that was shown across the board from everyone involved. Those more than anything else made this job simply epic.

Since recently launching our subscriptions, we have seen great results across a diverse range of sectors. Here is one of our first example case studies from Food and drink business Billy’s Backyard BBQ in Mount Cotton, Brisbane, on a three-month video and photography subscription package.

CASE STUDY: FOOD & DRINK VENUE BILLY’S BACKYARD BBQ 3 MONTH VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHY SUBSCRIPTION

With the rise of takeaway across the sector and increased sales now that restaurants are back open with the reduction of Covid 19 restrictions, we met with Billy’s Backyard BBQ, a food and drink venue in Brisbane, and planned out some great ideas and ways to showcase their American BBQ restaurant in Mount Cotton.

Owners, Pete & Loz, are so passionate about their food, their customers and your experience at their restaurant that we wanted to be able to showcase this through imagery and video for their website, instagram and facebook pages. In coming weeks we will be working with the team to create customised photography and videography featuring their premises, their food, environment, smokers, events, catering and much more.

They may be a client but I am not biased when I say this, the reason we approached them was we ate here and then decided we had to work with them it was soo good. They offer the BEST American BBQ in Brisbane that we’ve come across with unreal servings, incredible quality meat at the best price. Check out the video & imagery we captured below, warning, you will be HUNGRY by the end!
